Baltimore Orioles vs Yankees Match Player Stats – 45 HR, 17-5 Blowout & Head-to-Head Analysis

Been watching Baltimore Orioles vs Yankees match player stats since I was a kid. And lemme tell ya – things ain’t what they used to be.

Used to be you’d see those pinstripes at Camden and just sigh… another L coming. Not anymore!

Dad took me to games in the 90s – still got the faded ticket stubs somewhere – and the Yanks just OWNED us back then.

David vs Goliath? Not These Days, Mate

OK so the history still looks rough:

  • O’s: 923 wins (ugh)
  • Yanks: 1,359 wins (double ugh)
  • Our win %: .404 (triple ugh)

My granddad used to rant about the bloody Yankees crushing our dreams every summer. “Damn Bronx Bombers” he’d say while throwing crisp packets at the telly.

Even the playoffs were a joke – 7-3 record against us? Please.

But listen… something’s changed. I can feel it in my bones when I’m at the park now.

The O’s Have Found Their Wings!!!

Last few seasons have been MENTAL:

  • 2023: We shocked baseball with a 101-61 record (1st in AL East!!!)
  • 2023: Yankees stumbled around like a drunk bloke at closing time (82-80, 4th place lol)
  • 2024 matchups: We beat em 8 out of 13!!!

Remember 2019? When that Torres fella murdered our pitching staff with 13 homers in 18 games? Dark times.

Me and my mates were at that June game last year – the 17-5 massacre. Sat next to these Yankee fans who kept getting quieter and quieter as the runs piled up. By the 7th they were just staring at their $12 beers looking like they’d seen a ghost.

Nearly matched our all-time high of 18 runs from way back in ’86 (before i was even born tbh).

Player v Player – The REAL Story

Forget the team stuff for a sec – lets look at the Baltimore Orioles vs Yankees match player stats that actually matter when these lot face off:

Judge (AKA The Camden Yards Wrecking Ball)

  • 45 homers against us (nobody else comes close)
  • Had 37 at Camden by last April ffs
  • Swear he could find that left field fence blindfolded

Was at BP last season, right? Judge was literally pointing to the seats before launching balls there. Cocky git, but can’t really blame him.

Rutschman – Our Secret Yankee Weapon

Adley is building something special:

  • .313 lifetime vs NY (gets better every time)
  • Led team with .374 OBP in 2023
  • Switch-hitting messes with their bullpen plans

Got his jersey for Xmas last year. Wore it to every game. Might be why we’ve turned it around lol.

Santander vs That Short Porch

We call him Tony Taters down our way:

  • 16 bombs vs Yankees (loves that right field joke of a wall)
  • Hits absolute rockets from both sides
  • Always seems up for it against NY

Got his autograph in 2021. Told him to hit one out against Cole. He winked. HE ACTUALLY WINKED.

Torres (The 2019 Nightmare)

Remember that cursed season?

  • 13 homers in 18 games (wtf was that about???)
  • Thank god he’s come back down to earth
  • Still gives me cold sweats when he’s up tho

How They Score: Chalk and Cheese

Dead different approaches to scoring runs:

Team 2023 Runs Avg OBP Homers Nicked Bases
O’s 807 .255 .321 183 114
Yanks 673 .227 not great 219 100

Yankees still swinging for the car park every time. Meanwhile we had 8 different lads with 10+ homers last year. EIGHT!

Watched em take extra bases all last season. Hit behind runners. Steal bags. All the stuff my old coach used to bang on about at Little League.

We outscored em 73-58 in 2024 games. Not even a contest really.

The Pitching Matchups That Get Me Buzzin

Proper excited about the mound battles these days:

Cole (The $324 Million Man)

  • Won the Cy Young with that 2.63 ERA (fair play)
  • Not so flash against us tho – 3.75 ERA (we see him better than most)
  • Still gets his Ks (222 last yr)

Sat behind home plate last Aug when he pitched. Even on an off day the bloke’s stuff is RIDICULOUS. Tipping my cap on that one.

Bradish (Our New Ace & It’s About Bloody Time)

  • 2.83 ERA in 2023 (no O’s pitcher done that since Mussina back in ’92!)
  • Shut the Yanks out for 6 innings last summer
  • Breaking ball makes hitters look proper daft

Bullpen Battle

  • Holmes holds it down for NY (their pen had 3.34 ERA as a unit)
  • Bautista was basically unhittable til he got hurt (1.48 ERA!!!)
  • Felix made nearly half the Yankees he faced look silly in 2023

Was there last July when Bautista K’d Judge on 3 pitches to end it. Never heard Camden so loud. Got chills just typing about it tbh.

Glove Work: Clean vs Sloppy

Little things win ballgames innit:

Team 2023 Field % Errors DRS Double Plays
O’s .988 Just 71 +34 140
Yanks .984 About 90! Meh Not as many

Our Defensive Stars

  • Mullins covers half the bloody outfield himself
  • Hays played PERFECT defense in 2023 (0 errors!!!)
  • Urías won gold at 3rd in 2022

Their Better Fielders

  • Volpe got Gold Glove as a rookie at SS (fair play)
  • Trevino frames pitches like a master
  • Rizzo still got the magic touch at 1B

Seen at least 5 games where Yankee errors cost em against us. You love to see it.

Games I Can’t Get Out My Head

Some you just never forget:

June 2024 Beatdown

  • 17-5 final (absolute scenes)
  • 2nd most runs we’ve ever put on em
  • Crowd singing “New York, New York” by the 7th (proper wind up merchants our lot)

Bradish Masterclass (Aug ’23)

  • 6 shutout innings
  • Made their lineup look Sunday League
  • Mate texted me “are we actually good now???”

Bautista vs Judge Showdown

  • 3 pitches, 3 strikes, ballgame
  • Splitter, splitter, fastball I think? Was too busy screaming
  • Still got the vid on my phone
